From April 11 to April 13, 2025, the 3rd National Academic Conference on Carbon Dioxide Resource Utilization of the Chinese Chemical Society was held as scheduled in Xinxiang, Henan. This conference brought together top domestic experts and scholars to discuss the cutting-edge technology and future development direction of CO₂ resource utilization.

Recently, the review paper Heterogenous Electrocatalytic CO₂ Reduction by Supported Molecular Catalysts Well Dispersed on Electrode Surface, which was invited to be written by the research group, was officially accepted for publication in the journal ChemElectroChem (Mark and Zhang Shiyu are co-first authors).

On March 28, Professor Liu Lichen from Tsinghua University was invited to Westlake University to give a talk entitled “Selective conversion of hydrocarbon molecules with zeolite-confined subnanometer metal catalysts”, introducing the latest progress in general methods for generating and stabilizing subnanometer metal active sites (Pt, Pd, Rh, Ir, etc.) into various zeolite topologies (MFI, MWW, MEL, CHA, *BEA, etc.). In addition, Professor Liu also demonstrated the application of these zeolite-confined subnanometer metal catalysts in the selective conversion of hydrocarbon feedstocks into value-added chemicals through selective oxidation, hydroformylation, and dehydrogenation reactions.

We invited Professor Dichang Zhong from Tianjin University of Technology for an academic visit. On September 6, 2024, Professor Zhong visited the Nie Weixuan Laboratory at Westlake University, where he shared his latest research findings on the topic of "Activation and Conversion of Carbon Dioxide by Metal Complexes." The seminar sparked lively and enthusiastic discussions between Professor Zhong, Academician Licheng Sun, other young principal investigators, and students.

On October 12, 2024, We invited Professor Rui Cao from Shaanxi Normal University for an academic visit. Professor Cao presented his latest research advancements in "Electrocatalytic Activation of Energy Molecules." The seminar fostered engaging academic exchanges between Professor Cao and Westlake University's principal investigators, led by chair Professor Licheng Sun. Students actively participated in the discussion, raising insightful questions that stimulated professional dialogue.

On March 26, Hangzhou was sunny and the temperature was suitable. All members of the laboratory went to Yuhang Jingshan Temple for a spring outing.

On February 12, 2025, the laboratory gathered for a group dinner to celebrate Shiyu's birthday and this event also marked the beginning of the new year.We wish everyone smooth progress in their research and abundant achievements!
